In an attempt to connect with her parent’s roots, US-born Alexandra Karplus picked up her creative writing diploma and headed south to Buenos Aires. It was here that she discovered the possibility of traveling and getting paid for it. Ten years onward, after stop-offs in New York and London, along with several years as editor of Time Out Singapore, she is now the editor of Scoot’s inflight magazine and the digital producer for Ink’s Singapore office.
The Travel Goose is a work in progress, both a platform to play around with newly acquired digital skills while making the transition from print to web, as well as a place to share stories from recent wanders around the world.
What’s with the goose? Goosie has been Alexandra’s nickname since before she could waddle. The origin of the goose is a topic of heated debate, with more than one family member claiming to be the originator. It’s best that new friends and acquaintances stick with Alexandra, or Alex for short.
